Though our exciting initiative, the Australian Cavalier Heart and Longevity Project (ACHLP), we are investing in the future — our dogs, our time, and our collective expertise.
While we anticipate that this project may take up to a decade before its long-term impact can be fully measured, we are optimistic that encouraging results will emerge well before then.

About Us
We are a Circle of Breeders who have discovered that each of our kennels carries the NEBL3 gene or we have access to AG dogs carrying a new line to Australia.
What is NEBL3?
In Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, the NEBL3 (AG/GG) gene serves as a genetic marker linked to potential protection against early-onset Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD)—a leading cause of death in the breed. Understanding this genetic variation empowers breeders to make informed decisions and helps owners manage their dogs’ health more effectively.
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to improving heart health in Cavaliers by:
- Utilizing the NEBL3 gene in our breeding programs
- Implementing strategic outcrossing to broaden genetic diversity
- Sharing resources, kennel statistics, and outcomes transparently
- Building a collaborative network of breeders and guardians
Our goal is to contribute meaningful data that validates the impact of this gene, while fostering openness and cooperation across the Cavalier community.

Key Project Strategies
- Generational Roadmap: Implementing a 3–4 generation plan to integrate and sustain the AG gene across diverse pedigrees.
- Data-Driven Breeding: Using ancestral lineage databases to guide precise genetic decisions.
- Collaboration: Partnering with breeders worldwide to expand genetic diversity and strengthen cardiovascular health.
- Transparency: Making genetic testing, pedigrees, and outcomes openly accessible.
- Education: Supporting breeders with resources and knowledge to ensure long-term sustainability.
- Partnerships: Seeking dogs with strong cardiovascular health and genetic compatibility to enhance the program.
